+--PRIMARY_OBJECTIVE--+

Launched in 1977, the primary mission was the exploration of Jupiter and Saturn. After making a series of discoveries there, the mission was extended. Voyager 2 went on to explore Uranus and Neptune, taking advantage of a rare planetary alignment. Both spacecraft are now tasked with exploring the outermost edge of our solar system and the interstellar space beyond.

+--THE_GOLDEN_RECORD--+

Both Voyager spacecraft carry a golden phonograph record, a "message in a bottle" intended for any intelligent extraterrestrial life that might find them. The record contains sounds and images selected to portray the diversity of life and culture on Earth, including 115 images, sounds of nature (wind, thunder, animals), music from different cultures and eras, and spoken greetings in 55 ancient and modern languages.
